Understanding Your Coverage: Released Value Protection
MyTee Movers includes Released Value Protection on every move at no cost to you. This is required by law and is the industry standard for moving labor providers across the U.S.
What Released Value Protection Means
Released Value Protection is the basic level of liability coverage we provide. If an item is damaged, lost, or destroyed while in our care, you may be reimbursed up to:|

This coverage is automatically included at no additional charge.
What Released Value Protection Is NOT
It’s important to understand that Released Value Protection is not insurance. It does not cover the following:
- Full replacement value
- Repair costs that exceed the 60¢/lb. calculation
- High‑value items (electronics, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, etc.)
- Damage that occurs outside our handling (for example, during transport in your personal vehicle or rental truck)
What “Valuation Coverage” Means
Valuation coverage refers to the amount of liability a moving company accepts for your belongings. Released Value Protection is the basic valuation level. If you want full replacement value coverage, that must be purchased separately through a third‑party insurer of your choice.
Example
A 50‑pound dresser damaged during handling would be reimbursed at:
50 lbs. × $0.60 = $30
Loss & Damage Claims
MyTee Movers takes every precaution to protect your belongings while they are in our care. Although rare, loss or damage can occur during a move. If this happens, you have the right to file a claim for compensation under your Released Value Protection coverage.
How to File a Claim
You have 9 months from the date of service to submit a written claim to MyTee Movers. Claims must be submitted in writing so we can properly document and process them according to federal guidelines.
What Happens After You File
- We have 120 days to review your claim and provide a written disposition as required by federal guidelines
- If additional time is needed, we may request up to two 60‑day extensions, as allowed by law
What Your Claim May Cover
Your claim will be evaluated under the Released Value Protection level included with your service as required by federal law. This coverage reimburses up to 60 cents per pound per item for loss or damage.
Before Purchasing Additional Coverage
Before purchasing any third‑party moving insurance, we recommend checking your homeowners or renters’ insurance policy to see what coverage may already apply during your move. Many policies already include limited coverage for personal property during a move, which may reduce or eliminate the need for additional insurance.
Optional Third‑Party Moving Insurance Providers
If you would like additional protection beyond the basic Released Value Protection included with your service, you may purchase full‑value moving insurance through a third‑party provider. These companies specialize in coverage for household goods during a move and offer policies directly to consumers:

These providers are independent companies and are not affiliated with MyTee Movers in any way. Purchasing additional insurance is entirely optional and based on your personal needs and comfort level.
